- BLUEFIELD, Va. Ernestine Durham Hoops Burress, 83, of 1701 Lee Avenue, Bluefield, Va., died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012 at her home. She was born in Tazewell County, Va. and was a daughter of the late William Pierce Durham and Dora Lee Patton Durham. She was retired from General Telephone Company after 44 years of service and was a member of the Bailey United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Andrew Jackson Hoops; and a sister, Rebecca (Dewey) Roach.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Burress; son, Jack Hoops and wife, Carolyn, of Bluefield, Va.; daughter, Dianna Hoops Yost of Bluefield, W.Va.; stepsons, Jack Alvin Burress and wife, Shelly, of Ohio, Darwin Burress and wife, Joann, of New York; brother, Bill Durham of Bluefield, Va.; three grandsons, Shane Yost and wife, Missy, of Bluefield, Va., Billy Hoops and wife, Lisa, of Springville, Va., Brandon Hoops and wife, Stephanie, of Bluefield, Va.; step-grandchildren, Bryan Burress and Adrienne Mancundus; eight great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, Va. with the Rev. Steve Aker officiating. Burial will follow in the Grandview Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Shane Yost, Bill Dudley, Billy Hoops, Brandon Hoops, Billy Roach and Leonard Burress.
Friends may visit with the family today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
