Draft Card |
Feb 1944 |
McDowell County, West Virginia, USA |
- The birth date and place of birth on this card are incorrect. My father tried to first get drafted so lied about his age. When they didn't draft him, he enlisted himself in the Navy at age 14. 9 months later when the navy found out he was under age, they discharged him.

- Dad was on his own since he was 13. With no place to go he lied about his age and enlisted in the Navy at the age of 14. He made it 8 months before they found out his true age and discharged him. When he turned 18 he enlisted with the Marines.
