A number of Grahamites, including several ladies, enjoyed a big fox chase on East River Mountain Tuesday night. Grace Hall was chosen master of hounds and the dogs were not long in finding a good trail. The chase lasted an hour when the fox went to earth near the big bluffs under the brink of the mountain. It WaS the first experience at chasing for some of the ladies but they enjoyed the fun immensely. Those in the party were Mrs. J.W Moore, Misses Orgie, Ida and Jessie Burress, Marue Scott, Mandeline Trout, Gertrude and Mabel Rucker, Billie and Marie Hall and Edna Kelster and Donald Sanders, Ray Hart, Verny Burress, Bob Greever, Walter Keister, A.G. - Newspaper Notice, Clinch Valley News, Bluefield Daily Telegraph, 31 December 1924.
A very pretty marriage that some of the friends of the bride and groom had been expecting took place in the pastor's study in the First Presbyterian Church yesterday morning at 9:00 o'clock When Miss Ida Grayson Burrees, of Bluefleld, Va., became the bride of Fletcher Gay Atkinson, of Deland, Fla.
The ceremony was performed by, the Rev. Samuel W. Moore, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, who has known the bride since her childhood. The beautiful ring service being used.
The bride, a most attractive young lady, is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Burress. She was reared in Bluefleld, Va., and graduated from the high school there.
She is a girl of fine character, quiet and unassuming and of a lovable disposition. She wore a most becoming ensemble suit of penny-brown with accessories to match.
The groom is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. L.F. Atkinson, and is well known in Bluefield, having been druggist at the White Pharmacy several years ago.
More recently, he has made his home in Deland, FL where he is engaged in the automobile supplies and accessories business.
His many friends in Bluefield and in Florida will congratulate him on his good fortune in winning such a lovely young bride.
Immediately after the ceremony, the happy young couple left on the 9:30 morning train for the sunshine and flowers of Florida, and will make their future home in Deland.
Those attending the marriage were Miss Bettie Burress and Vernon L. Burress, of Bluefield, VA and Mrs. George Floyd, of Norton, Va. Sisters and brother of the bride; Mrs. F.R Cook and Misses Helen and Edith Cook and Earl Higginbotham of this city, a long time friend of the groom.
