- Jack Burress, 90 of Bluefield, VA, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 22, 2017. He was the son of the late James Robert and Tinie Stump Burress. Jack had proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He attended Bailey United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing cards with his family. In his younger years, he enjoyed traveling and fishing. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He will be missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Lucille Burress and his second wife: Ernestine Durham Burress; 4 brothers; 6 sisters; a still born grandson: John Thomas Burress.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons: Jack Alvin Burress (Shelley), Darwin Burress (Joanne); brothers: Leonard Burress (Faith), Kenneth Burress; sisters: Marie Cole, Melvina Aliff, Helen Clites; grandchildren: Adriane Mankundis and Brian Burress; step-son: Jackie Hoops (Carolyn); step-daughter: Diana Yost; step-grandsons: Samuel, Clayton and Joseph Healy, Billy and Brandon Hoops and Shane Yost; 15 great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Monday, November 27, 2017 at 12:00 P.M. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Rev. Steve Aker officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens.
