  	Dorothy Mae Burkett (nee Burress), 77 of Lake Worth, Florida, formerly of Bluefield, VA, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014, after a courageous battle with several illnesses. Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and aunt. In addition to being a wonderful mother and housewife, Dorothy worked a variety of jobs including cashier, caregiver and dog groomer. She enjoyed many activities including skating, crossword puzzles and cooking. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Robert ?Bobby? Allen Burkett; her parents, James Robert Burress and Tiny (Stump) Burress; her brothers, James Burress. George Burress, Thomas Burress and Raymond Burress; her sisters, Virginia Burress, Lucille Burress, Gladys Burress , Beatrice Splaun and Francis Wright. Dorothy is survived by her son, Ted Allen Burkett; her brothers, Jack Burress of VA, Leonard Burress (Faith) of WV and Kenneth (Janice) Burress of Illinois; her sisters, Marie Cole of VA, Melvina Alliff of Florida and Helen Clites of Maryland; many nieces and nephews. Dorothy lived each day of her life with faith and kindness. Her life-long generosity, both in deed and spirit, was graciously shared by all who knew and loved her. She was much loved and will be greatly missed. A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Grandview Memory Gardens with Rev James Bassett officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Grandview by 10:45 A.M. Dudley Memorial is serving the Burkett family
