This indenture made this 28th day of December 1821 between Edward Collings of the County of Stokes and the State of North Carolina of the one part and James Jasper Jr (Trustee) for said Collings and William Boyles of the same County and state of the other part. Witnesseth that whereas the said Edward Collins stands justly indebted to the said Boyles in the sum of $575 dollars 48 cents on notes he the said Collings .... to make good and .... the payment of said money and ...for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar in hand paid by James .... Trustee...whereof is hereby acknowledged hat granted bargained and sold by these presents doth grant, bargain sell and deliver unto the said James Lyon/Jasper (trustee) the following property to wit, that is .... said Collins....to five hundred and three acres of land being the same where the said Collings now lives with all the (west?) crops raised on said (plantation?) and one bay mare, four cows three steers and two yearlings ... nine shoats (* baby pigs) and twenty one pigs. One Clock ...Beds, bedsteads ...and furniture, five chairs with all other house hold and kitchen furniture also a set of smiths tools and farming utensils and five head of sheep, also all the present crop of Tobacco and about forty barrels of corn, two stacks of oats and all fodder shucks? ...on said plantation? and a pound of bacon ... and the said Edward Collings doth ...himself...to warrant and defend to the said James Lyon (trustee) as good and lawful title the said property against the ... of claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever....if the said Edward Collins or his heirs shall pay the said William Boyles ... or his legal representatives the aforesaid sum of money by the ...date of March 1823 with lawful interest...the said Collins shall fail to pay the aforesaid sum of money by the time aforesaid then the said James Lyon (Trustee) shalle proceed to sell the above property and it's ...for the best price that can be had in ready money to the highest bidder ....advertising the time and place at least 30 days notice at some public place in this county and out of the proceeds thereof ... pay the said William Boyles the above .... sum of money and ....

Know all men by these present that ... James G Martin and William A Lash, both of the County of Stokes and state of North Carolina of the one part and Edward Collins of the County of Patrick and State of Virginia of the other part. Witnesseth that the said James G. Martin and William A Lash have this day bargained and sold conveyed and confirmed for and in consideration of the sum of twenty five dollars to these in hand paid by the said Edward Collins a certain tract of land to him the said Edward Collins the following tract of land formerly the property of Thomas J. Barnett (Bennett? Burnett?) know as the Barnett place lying and being in the county of Stokes and state of North Carolina on Turkey Oak Creek, adjoining the lands of Elisha Collins. The Martin tract and ... continuing 75 acres .... more or less to have and to have and to hold the land and premises to him the said Edward Collins and his heirs ....and to the said William A. Lash and James G Martin will forever warrant and ....defend the right... and...the said land and premises against the ...against the claims of all other persons whatsoever in ....this ? day of June 1852.
