  	Bluefield Daily Telegraph Raven, Va - Oct. 24 - Mrs. Avie Elswick 38, wife of John Elswick, died Tuesday morning at Richlands hospital. Death resulted from a serious surgical operation. She is survived by her husband and the following children: Marvis, Opal, Paul, Ted, Donald and Raymie: her mother, Mrs. Lem Palmer, and the following sisters and brothers; Mrs. Coulbert Cruey and Mrs. Elsie McGlothlin, of Road Ridge; M.S., Bill and Paul Mallory, all of Raven. Funeral services were conducted on Thusday at the home of her brother, Bill Mallory, by the Rev. A.R. Singleton and the Rev. E.S. Stephens. Burial was in the family cemetery. -------------------------------- Mrs. Avie Elswick, 38, died at the local hospital Tuesday morning of complications following an operation several days prior to her death. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at her home on Road Ridge, near Raven. Besides her husband, John Elswick, she is survived by six children, a number of brothers and sisters. Before her marriage she was a Miss Avie Mallory, member of a prominent family of this section. Following service at the home the body was laid to rest in the family cemetery on Road Ridge. Mrs. Elswick was a loyal Christian worker among the people of her community and greatly beloved.
