      KILLED BY FALL OF SLATE
      Sam Lawson, of Raven, forty-five years of age, was killed by a fall of slate at a wagon mine on Mill Creek, Tazewell County, Wednesday morning.
      Mr. Lawson worked a night shift as motorman for the Raven Red Ash Coal Co., and during the day worked the wagon mine, with the assistance of his sons. Two of his sons were with him at the time of the accident. He had shot some coal and started back when the slate fell.
      He died in a Richlands hospital. He is survived by his wife and nine children.1 _TITLE Notes
