- Freddie Palmer BANDY, Va. Freddie Joe Palmer, age 71, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 17, 2009, in a Johnson City, Tenn., hospital. Born June 29, 1937, he was the son of the late Belve and Nina Palmer. He was the pastor of the Gardner Full Gospel Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Belve Palmer Jr.; his sister, Helen Driver; and brother-in-law, John York. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Palmer; daughter, Stephanie Palmer; four sons, Robert Palmer and wife Tina, Franklin Palmer, Dennis Palmer and Danny Palmer; grandchildren, Angela Palmer and Brandon Palmer; brothers, Benny Palmer and wife Willie Mae and Jack Palmer and wife Mary Ann; sisters, Wilma Newberry, Shirley York, Sandra Black and husband Stuart and Donna Gouveia; a host of nieces, nephews, friends; and a loving church family. Funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Va., with the Rev. Robert Shortt and Sandy Dowdy officiating. The family will receive friends after 5:30 p.m. and following the service until 9 p.m. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Those attending the graveside service are requested to meet at the cemetery by 11 a.m. Pallbearers will be Scottie Miller, Mike Lester, Kevin Lester, Kisha Perkins, Larry Dowdy and Bobby Hale.
