Pounding Mill Mrs. Martha SPARKS and daughter, Mrs. Margaret GRIFFITH and son, Blain, R.L. ELLIS, Mrs. James BRUSTER, Mrs. Mattie ALTIZER and daughter, Miss Ray and Lawrence RINGSTAFF on Sunday attended funeral and burial of Mrs. Robert JOYCE at Doran.29 Jan 1932 Raven - Mrs. Sally JOYCE, age 62 years, wife of Robert JOYCE, widely known citizen in this section, died at her home in Doran early Saturday morning. Mrs. JOYCE had been in falling health for some time and for the past several weeks lingered in a critical condition with the end momentarily expected. Death was due to paralysis. Since having the first stroke three years ago, she has been practically an invalid, having lost the use of one arm and leg, and has had several strokes during the past two months with death expected with each stroke. Funeral services were held at the JOYCE home, Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. OWENS, pastor of Christian church, assisted by Rev. TABOR, pastor of the Methodist church. Interment made in the Shreve cemetery near her home. Mrs. JOYCE was a well known and highly esteemed lady of this community, having been a resident of Doran for many years. She was a native of Tazewell County, having been born and reared in Baptist Valley. She was the daughter of the late Samuel (This should be CC Pack) and HANNAH PACK and has been a devoted member of the Chirstian Baptist church. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Arthur HORTON, Hazard, Ky., and one son, Robert, Jr. or Doran; three sisters, Mrs. Ella THOMAS, of Norton, Mrs. Rachel RATCLIFF, of Richlands and Ollie, of Doran; five brothers, James, of Sinks Grove, West Virginia; John, of Sunbright, Tenn; Samuel, Crockett and William, of West virginia, and Tennessee.
