She was a daughter of the late John Wesley Cumalander and the late Marion Kennington Cumalander. She was a 1971 graduate of Bishopville High School and was employed with R. Travis Windham Insurance Agency as an Agent at the time of her illness. Melba was a people person, she loved people and people loved her. She never met a stranger. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Bishopville for over 40 years and taught Sunday School for 26 years.
