DORAN, Va. -- Clara Leala Helbert Lawson, 75, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, in a Kingsport hospital. She was born in Tazewell County, a daughter of the late John Epson and Mary Bell Carter Helbert. She was the widow of Powell Lawson Jr. Surviving are four daughters, Linda Barry and Judy Ford, both of Raven, Va.,Tena Damron of Abingdon and Kathy Hoops of Wardell, Va.; five sons, Bill Lawson, Jim Lawson and Wayne Lawson, all of Raven, Earnest Lawson of Sevierville, Tenn., and Denney Lawson of Swords Creek, Va.; a brother, Larry Junior Helbert of Honaker; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff. Burial will be in Lawson Family Cemetery in the Road Ridge section of Raven. Mrs. Lawson was also preceded in death by a son, Stevie Powell Lawson; two sisters; and six brothers. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Singleton Funeral Service.
