    Notes:

There is a notation in "Cemetery Records of Rockingham and Stokes Counties, North Carolina Volume III" showing Pvt. Thomas Hill (1815) of the NC Troops, Confederate States Army is buried in the County Home Cemetery. This cemetery is located in Meadows township on County Home Rd. #1706 off Hwy 89 near Danbury. (July 28, 1998- Ralph and I visited this area and found County Home Road. The old County Home is not standing, and the site is not marked. The county librarians did not know the exact location of the cemetery, and we were not able to find it the day we visited.) The librarians stated to me that the County Home was "like a rest home for folks who could not be cared for at home. "There is a story passed down by the descendants of William Snider Hill, Thomas' son, that Thomas and Louisa were living apart because they were having a hard time financially. Thomas was living with William and Janey, and Louisa was living with one of their children nearby. Thomas was taking coffee to Louisa one day when he collapsed on the road. He didn't have any identification when he was found, so he was taken to the county home where he died. The sad thing is that he was always afraid he would die in the poor house. - Pamela Hill Smith

Respectfully showeth unto your worship that some three years since THOMAS LAWSON died seized and possessed of a tract of land lying and being in the Country of Stokes on the head of Barnes Branch ...206a

Thomas married Celia Hall in 1793 in Surry County, North Carolina. Celia was born in 1778 in Surry County, North Carolina; died after 1860 in Stokes County, North Carolina. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  6. 13.  Celia Hall was born in 1778 in Surry County, North Carolina; died after 1860 in Stokes County, North Carolina.

    Notes:

Celia Hall CAN NOT be the daughter of Randall Hall that married Elizabeth Lawson. Randall Hall, according to records was a son in law of John Lawson. He married John's daughter Elizabeth Lawson. Thomas Lawson, son of John Lawson, married Celia Hall. That would make them uncle and niece. I find it hard to believe that close of a marriage would be allowed much less produce healthy children. I have never seen any documentation of Celia's parents, so I don't know why everyone has linked Randall Hall has her father other than he seems to be the only Hall in the area of the right age, but again, the close family relationship does not make the father/daughter connection work. If anyone has any information regarding this please let me know cause I'm stumped.
