    The court ordered that Leonard Straw, William King, Andrew Hounshell, Samuel Fullen, Abraham Staley, George Baugh, Henry Baugh, Peter Nave, Peter Etter, Michael Cormany, Joseph Cowden, George Wampler, Sr. with their "labouring" hands and tenants be exempt from working on the road from Tawney's to the South Fork of the Holston and to work on the road from Straw's Mill to John Phillippie's and to keep the same in repair. Andrew Hounshell is to be the overseer.

    Security:
    Polly Pacinger, orphan child of Paul Pacinger, came into choice of her guardian as Godfrey Messersmith, who gave bond with Andrew Hounshell, his security (Andrew and Godfrey are 1st cousins).

    William Hays, Evan Davis, and Phillip Umbarger to view alteration of road proposed in the public road from Henry Groseclose's to James Davies's and also the alteration of the public road at the house of John Bryant and report. John Hounshell, Andrew Hounshell, and Peter Hedrick are to view the alteration of the public road proposed by Jonas Umberger.

    This road, proposed by Jonas Umberger, passes through John Griffith's land and he is to be paid $50 in damages, following a jury and an ad quod damnum. Samuel Williams came into court and agreed to pay half, the balance out of the county levy, and the road is to be established between Nehemiah Bonham's to the Washington line passing Pierce's Iron Works and Jinkin Williams appointed surveyor of it and that Jehu Stephens to give him a list of hands.

The marriage record gives Nicholas' father's given name as Johann, who is listed as deceased at the time of Nicholas' marriage. Nicholas is shown as a citizen of Otterberg and a "cater" (freight handler). His father is shown as being from Birren in the Archbishopric of Metz.
