    Notes:

    Name:
There is no proof that John who married Louvina Churchill, is the father of John Totten (1744). It seems, because there were no will records listing children, most believe that John and Louvina had no children that lived to adulthood. However, that is no always concrete proof of no children.

Some have listed Jasper as John's (1744) father, which I don't believe is possible. Still other's claim there is no way to know which brother, if any, he descended from. Regardless, I do believe that John Totten b. 1744 is descended in some way from Edward Totten of Hempstead, I'm just not clear on which son he descended from. I list John (married Louvina Churchill) at this time simply because most of the other KNOWN descendants are accounted for.

I believe there is a missing generation somewhere which accounts for the confusion on this line.

The Japser Totten born 1675-80, son of Richard Totten in Hempstead NY married Patience (b. 1682), and Patience, according to Jasper's will, was his widow. He does not to appear to have had two wives.

Jasper's brother Benjamin had a son name John that married Louvina Chruchill. If this John Totten is indeed the father of John Totten who married Druscilla, then obviously, Jasper Totten is not his father.

John married Drusilla Dodd in 1765 in New York or Virginia. Drusilla (daughter of Possible Richard Dodd) was born in 1748 in Amherst County, Virginia (?); died on Jan 23, 1843 in Smyth, Virginia, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Notes:

    Buried:
The cemetery lays between what used to be John Totten's farm and Edward Churchill's farm.

    Died:
Will indicates no children as no children are mentioned, however there could be other reasons no child is listed, John 1744 would have been in VA at the time of father death so perhaps he didn't know where John was or if he was still alive at the time.

John married Levina Churchill in 1740 in Hempstead, New York. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
