John W. COMBS, aged 70 years of Pounding Mill, died Wednesday morning in a Richlands hospital of injuries received when he fell from a truck operated by Ed MARTIN, his nephew. Mr. COMBS fell from the truck about a half mile south of Richlands on the Kents Ridge road. He was born in Tazewell County, a son of the late Pine and Mary Whitt COMBS. He was employed at Jenkins Jones by the Pocahontas Fuel Company until 1947. His wife preceded him in death in 1950. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon in the Maxwell Methodist church.

Apparently, there is no clear evidence that James Pennington is the son of Abraham, however there is some DNA evidence that tends to point in that direction. Anyone researching this line can get more information about those connections from this site:
