    Nothing to date that proves William is a son of Pryor and Catherine. The descendants still living in Piney Creek, NC on much of the land originally owned by Wm and Thornton state that all their lives they were told Wm and Thornton were brothers (more)

    Notes:

    Pryor Sexton was a prominent man of means who owned several hundred acres of land, at least 600 hundred. The inventory of his estate shows that he owned considerable property, including one slave girl named Violet.

    He was a juror and overseer or the road. He lived on Rock Creek on lands adjoining Benjamin Sexton and John Welsh among others. And he was fined 89 cents each for swearing two profane oaths.

    Pryor Sexton 130 acres for $150 land on Rock Creek including plantation of John Michael Coker; 260 acres granted to Coker by patent, free and clear, from Susannah Coker, Adam Weatherhold and Susanna Roberts. Witness: M. Dickey, James Bedwell, William Bedwell.

    Land Purchase:
    William Sexton Sr. of Knox Co. KY sells land on Rock Creek in Grayson County Virginia to Pryor Sexton, adjoining John Welsh, part of a tract of 404 acres granted to said William by patent, line between Benjamin and Pryor Sexton and said William, containing residue of the original survey deducting lands conveyed by said William to Benjamin and Pryor Sexton. Wit: William Sexton, Thornton Sexton

    Notes:

    There seemed to be some connection between this John son's and Pryor as Pryor lived very close to Ben Sexton. I lean away from this John being a father of Pryor because when he died, Pryor was not listed as one of the children that was bounded out. A lot of people list Pryor's parents as Joseph and Mary, but there is no proof of that either. I left John here as a father as a reminder he is probably related to John in some way, and I need to try and find the connection between the two.
