    Joseph Hale lived on Pigg River (where Ben lived) and sold out in 1798 (so did Ben?) moved to Patrick county and died there around 1803 child: Thomas, Joseph, Mary Huff, Richard, Elizabeth, John, Peter, Rachel Parker, Sally Tittle, Nancy, Kesiah & Ben

    Henry County Deeds Book 1 p. 214

    8 February 1779 Joseph Hale of Henry County conveys to Joseph Pearson, for 100 pounds, 100 acres by patent dated at Williamsburg 20 June 1772, being part of a survey of 233 acres, in Henry County on both sides of Snake Run of Blackwater River, bound by Daniels Runs where Jacob Prilliman's new line takes off.

    Witnesses: Isaac Jones, Abraham Jones, Isaac Rentfro, William Rentfro, Thomas Jones, Jr. John Murphy. Rachel Hale, wife of Joseph Hale, relinquishes her right of dower.

    Book 1 p. 216: 22 April 1779. I, Edward Murphy, do certify that I have sold the land I bought of James Rentfro and took bond for a deed if convenient from Joseph Hales and said Rentfro, and that a deed of conveyance to Joseph Pearson shall be a sufficient discharge against the said bond.

    24 April 1783 Joseph Hale of Henry County conveys to Jacob Oldakers of same, for 50 pounds, 164 acres on north fork of Pigg River.

    Franklin County Deeds Book 2 P. 266

    Joseph Hale of Franklin County conveys to Jacob Brillemon of same, for 50 pounds 59 acres in the county of Pittsylvania on the branches of Blackwater River. Signed John Hale

    6 October 1789 Jesse Rentfro. Sr. of North Carolina conveys to Joseph Hale Sr. of Franklin County, for 75 pounds, 434 acres, 50 acres in one tract and 43 in another, and 330 acres part of another, all joining, on both sides of Pigg River, bounded on the north by the river, line between Jones and Barton, Jones' line, Trupin's line, Isaiah Willis' line, Darby Ryan's line, Robert Jones; line, down the river as it meanders, Thomas Jones' line. Witnesses: Isaac Rentfro, John Rentfro, John Rentfro Sr. John Rentfro, William Miller, William Crump, Thomas Prunty, William Griffith, William Rentfro. Recorded 7 December 1789
