    • (Notes): his "sermon book" and a "common prayer book" and, he kept (mentioned in his will of 1715) a "parcel of old books." As a young man in Virginia, his neighbors depended upon his knowledge and expertise to construct and run a mill.
    • Notes: Nothing is known about his early life or parents. However, a little may be surmised. He was from a well-to-do family who could afford a proper education, he may have been apprenticed to a miller. He was well educated because in later life he cherished
