    Administration of William's estate was filed on 29 March 1764. Jacob Stakes was named to settle the estate of William Miles. Henry Heath was the security. His estate was finally settled 27 Jan 1767

    • Land Sale: 3 Mar 1718, Accomack County, Virginia; William Miles presented and acknowledged a deed for land he sold to Mason Abbott.
    • Will: 6 June 1723, Accomack County, Virginia; To friend William Miles.....(abstracted wills, lists few details, mostly just lists names of persons)
    • Deed: 4 July 1727; Deeds land to son William Jr. (deed in notes)
    • Deed: 24 July 1727, Accomack County, Virginia; Deeded 150 acres to his son William. He bought some adjoining land to add to that owned by Roger and Ann Miles.
    • Inventory: 6 August 1729, Accomack County, Virginia; William Miles inventories & appraised estate of Sleby Onions - Court Date 6 Aug 1729. (Orders Accomack Co. 1724 - 1731 p 116.)
    • Deed: 3 February 1735, Accomack County, Virginia; Years after William Miles gave "Deed of Gift" 150 acres at the south end to his son William, a balance of 185 acres was given to a son Roger. Williams and wife Ester sold 150 Acres to John Major in 1735.
    • Deed: 25 January 1741, Accomack County, Virginia; Between William Miles of Accomack County of the one part and Roger Miles his Oldest Son (Deed in notes)
    • Will: 25 September 1744, Accomack County, Virginia; Roger Miles' will named a son William and gave him the plantation where "my father (being William Miles Sr.) now lives containing 180 acres"

    William Miles died intestate after 1744 (based on being mentioned in his son Roger's will of 1744) and his administration was not found. It appears that he lived at the place given his son Roger until his death

    • Immigration: 1667, Eastern Shore, Virginia; He departed from Bristol, England, but that may have just been the port city of departure. He could have lived somewhere else in England.
    • Headright: 16 August 1667, Accomack County, Virginia; Roger Milles was listed as a headright in a land certificate issued to Henry Smith for a 1,000-acre patent on 16 Aug 1667 (Acc Orders, 1666-1670, p. 36) Roger was an indentured servant
    • Depostion: 9 December 1668, Accomack County, VA; Several times he heard Eliza Carter say that she thought she had a frog or snake in her belly. She said she could go down to Accohannock & get some physic and make either a hog or a dog of it. Signed, Roger Myles. (well she was obviously cray-cray)
    • Deposition : 1670, Accomack County, VA; About the middle of March 1667, Foxcroft sold Roger Miles to Henry Brown for 3 years, to be free the First of April. Signed, Daniel Foxcroft.
    • Court: April 1670, Accomack County, Virginia; Roger Miles proved by several evidences that he had served his time as servant to Henry Browne, who had not paid him his corn and clothes. Ordered that Browne pay Miles according to the custom of the country and pay court Charges.
    • Depostition : 8 April 1670, Accomack County, Virginia; Henry Browne said that Roger Miles was free from Mr. Smith the first of April. Signed, Daniel (X) Clenson. (McKey - V2 p 198 - Accomack Co. Orders 1666 - 1670 p 189, 190).
    • Court: 17 September 1672, Accomack County, Virginia; Jno. Cole was granted a judgment of 394 lbs tobacco against Roger Miells(sic). The debt was to be paid next 10 October with court costs.
    • Court: 17 April 1678, Accomack County, Virginia; An Indian named Arthur (attorney: Charles Holden) complained that Roger Miles had detained his gun. Ordered that Miles deliver the gun "sell fixed" to Arthur and pay court costs.
    • Land Purchase: 1683, Accomack County, Virginia; Bought 620a S of Gargatha from Miles & Ann Gray. 2 yrs later Roger/Ann deeded 200a back to Ann Gray for her life & then it was to go to her son John Gray (I don't know if these are your Gray relatives, seems so, but don't know if Grays were active in Accom
    • Court 2: 3 Jul 1683, Accomack County, Virginia; John Baylie's or some place where he might hear of an owner. 2 or 3 days later when Roger saw Prettiman on the horse at Hunting Creek Mill, he told Prettiman that it was William Anderson's horse. Signed and sworn in open court 3 Jul 1683, by Roger Miles
    • Court: 3 Jul 1683, Accomack County, Virginia; About last Nov, Roger was at John Priteman's house at Myssongo, where John Pretteman, Jr. told him about a large white horse, side hobbled w/a small cord "& very much galled therewith," Roger advised Prettiman to ride the horse to
    • Will: October 1686, Accomack County, VA; Smith left his whole estate to his cousin Roger Miles with the exception of his land which he left to Roger's son Roger. It was proved by Isaac Dix.
    • Estate: January 1687, Accomack County, Virginia; Miles provided to the court the depositions of Richard Hastings and John Townsend, who declared that the mothers of Smith and Miles were sister born to one mother. Ordered that Miles retain the real estate until a better righ appeared.
    • Lawsuit: 20 February 1689, Accomack County, Virginia; Lt. CoL. John West sued Roger Miles as executor of William Smith (deceased), producing a note written in 1680, in which Smith had requested West to pay William Benston 4100 lbs tobaccoSmith obliged himself to repay the sum.
    • Lawsuit: 20 February 1689, Accomack County, Va; The suit was dismissed. Col. John West was dissatisfied with the above judgment and requested liberty to appeal to the next general court. This was granted with him and the defendant giving security according to the law.
    • Lawsuit: 20 February 1689; West, showing the note & receipt, requested & order against Miles, as Smith's exec. After Miles' attorney pleaded a law limiting how far notes are pleadable against the estates of dead men, the court judged that West had not sued within the time allowed.
    • Court: 15 December 1691, Accomack County, Virginia; Roger Miles and his wife Ann were summoned to court at the suit of Mr. Joseph Robinson against Andrew Steward, and since both of them attended court three days, in was ordered that Robinson pay them 120 lbs tobacco each with court cost
    • Land Sale: 1693, Accomack County, Virginia; Roger Miles & his wife Ann deeded 200a to Mary Wright. There was no further record of Roger , but the balance of the land later was found to be in the poss. of son William Miles. Deed in notes

    • Petitions Court: 16 August 1671, Accomack County, Virginia; "Ann Write hath petit. to be discharged of her husb. Estate. Ordered that the Sheriff take possession...of what he can find of the Estate: delivering to Widow what doth belong to herself & her child" and the remainder to payments of creditors.
    • Headright: 18 November 1671, Accomack County, Virginia; Named as headright on certificate granted to Mr. Thomas Fowkes for 650 acres for transporting 13 persons into the colony in 1666. (Thomas probably paid for his sisters passage, meaning she wasn't indentured).
    • Will: 10 September 1673, Accomack Co, VA; See notes, this involves another line of your grandparents, I think a lot of your ancestors knew each other even if they weren't directly related.
    • Will: 20 August 1678; Thomas Fowkes' wife Amy, requested that her son William Anderson, the executor, see to it that 1,000 LB of tobacco be raised out of her estate to be laid out for the best advantage of Mary Right, daughter of Ann "Myles" and of Henry Right deceased.
    • Deposition: 26 May 1679, Accomack County, Virginia; Deposition of Ann Miles aged about 40 years: Ann, "formerly using Mr. Yeo's house", often heard Mr. Yeo say that he had sent for his cousin to make him his heir when he died.
    • Deposition: 2 Jun 1708, Accomack County, Virginia; Mary Right, who had been presented for having a bastard child, was summoned to court. When her mother informed the court that Mary was weak and unable to come, they ordered that she appear at the next court
