2. | Joseph Samuel Crockett was born in 1722 in Somerset County, Maryland (son of Samson Crockett and Alsey/Elsie (?) Tyler); died in April 1806 in Tangier Islands, Accomack County, Virginia. Other Events:
- Bound: August 1734, Somerset County, Maryland; Jos. w/his brother Tyler were bound to his uncle Thomas Tyler to learn the trade of weaver. (Batchelder 81). Tho. Tyler owned land on both Smith's Is. in MD & Tangier Island in VA (the land of Smith's Island below the Boundary line bet. the 2 colonies.
- Tax List: 1744, Little Annamessex Hundred, Accomack Co, VA; Listed in the household of his uncle Thomas Tyler. (Miller Tax Lists 1727, etc., 1744:4). The Tax List reads "Thomas Tyler, Joseph Crockett."
- Constable: 31 August 1763, Accomack County, Virginia; Ordered that Joseph Crockett be appointed Constable on Tangier Islands. (Law Order Books)
- Will: 30 Apr 1766, Accomack County, Virginia; John Fish gave all of South Point, the whole patent belonging to me, to Joseph Crockett. He gave Spencer Tyler all his part of Hog Neck. Witnesses were Butler Tylor, Arthur Parkes, and Sarah Tylor (Acc Co Wills, 1761-1767, p. 608).
- Church: 16 March 1767 , Accomack County, Virginia; Joseph was assigned pew no. 46 in St. George's Church (Walczyk 18). There seems to have been some disagreement on pew assignments for at the next meeting of the Church Vestry the pew assignments were absolved.
- Land Purchase: 22 April 1785, Accomack County, Virginia; For the sum of 200 & 12 lbs 10 shill. - on Tangier Island containing by estimation 450a be the same more or less with all rights etc. --- being 1/2 of the said Island which descended to to said Robert Andrews by the last will of his father Wm Andrews dec'd
- Tax List: 1787, Accomack County, Virginia; (Yantis & Love, 1787 Tax List, p 93). Joseph Crockett charged with the tax. 1 male over 16, 3 horses 18 cattle.
- Census_1930: 1800, Accomack County, Virginia; Joseph Crockett: 1 male 10-16, 1 male 16-26, 1 male over 45, 1 female 10-16, 2 females over 45
- Will: 18 July 1805, Accomack County, Virginia; To son Zachariah Crockett 250 acres including where I now live & the use of South Point as long as he lives & after his death to my grandson Elisha Crockett.....
