    • Residence: 1686, Smith's Island, Accomack County, Virginia; Named for early landowner Henry Smith. Charted by Captain John Smith (Jamestown J Smith) in 1608 as "The Russell Isles". English farmers John Evans and John Tyler came via Accomack County Virginia to become the first permanent settlers in 1686.
    • Land Purchase: 1701, Accomack County, Virginia; Purchased 300 acres near Back Creek from William and Dorothy Jarman
    • Cattle Mark: 1701, Somerset County, Maryland; Recorded his cattle mark in court as John Evans of "Smith's Island."
