    • Parents/Spouse/Children from "The Heritage of Ashe County, North Carolina 1799-1984" by Bernard Goss (Vol. 1 Page 442)

Note: Thornton settled in the Silas Creek, near what came to be called the Parsons Hill. He and his wife are buried in the immediate vicinity of their old home.
A story is told about the children of Thornton and Easter being left alone on one occasion, when they were greatly frightened by a "falling of the stars." This was probably the great meteor shower of 1833.
