Unable to clarify if Isham was Matilda's son from a previous marriage or they followed the custom of the time to set up housekeeping, then when the circuit preacher came around, to record it, but Isham's death record lists John as step father.

Isham was born before the marriage of Matilda and John Pack - on his death record only Matilda's name is given, father's name is blank. On his sister Cynthia's death record it gives her mothers name as Matilda Reed - Wondering if Reed was a first marriage? Or is there just some confusion because her mother's maiden name was Reed.
