Bernard Clarence Burress, 72, of Raven, Va., died Friday In a Richlands, Va., hospital. Born In Tazewell County, Va., he was a son of the late Henry P. and Mary Frances Quesenberry Burress. He had lived in the Raven area most of his life and was a retired employee of Jewell Smokeless Coal Corp. In Vansant, Va. He was of the Holiness faith and was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Laura Stacy Burress. Survivors: daughter, Mrs. Janle Stevenson of Richlands; sons, Kenneth Burress of Richlands, J.C. Burress of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sisters, Mrs. Blanche Rasnake of Cedar Bluff, Va., Mrs. Dora Taylor of Maxwell. Va., Mrs. Gray Brughman of Clifton Forge, Va.; brothers, George Burress of Cedar BlulT, Bill Burress of Salem, Va., Jim Burress of Maxwell, Luther Burress of Yukon; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Richlands with the Rev. Bernard Shrader officiating and burial at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Va. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today.
