Generation: 2

  1. 2.  Daniel Burress Descendancy chart to this point (1.Thomas1) was born in 1805 in Virginia, United States.

    Notes:

    Birth:
This Daniel could be the Daniel who married Rebecca Peery, and not Daniel son of Micajah. There is no proof Micajah had a son Daniel.

  2. 3.  Sophronia Burress Descendancy chart to this point (1.Thomas1) was born on 11 Nov 1820 in Clear Fork, Tazewell County, Virginia; died on 12 Sep 1893 in Burkes Garden, Tazewell County, Virginia.

Sophronia married John Thompson on 11 Mar 1847 in Tazewell County, Virginia. John was born in 1823 in Virginia, United States. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  4. 5.  Causbia "Cosby" Ellen Burress Descendancy chart to this point (1.Thomas1) was born in 1825 in Virginia, United States; died in 1890 in Kentucky?.

    Other Events:

    • Census 1850: 1850, Western District, Tazewell, Virginia
    • Residence: 1860, Lawrence, Kentucky; Cosby is living in Kentucky with a female named Columbia who is 10. She is living right next door to George Floyd and his son Rush Floyd. I'm assuming Columbia is another illegitimate child of George Floyd's as later in life, she took his name.
    • Census 1870: 1870, Jeffersonville, Tazewell, Virginia, USA
    • Residence: 1880, Martin County, Kentucky; Cosby is 52, back in Kentucky and listed as a boarder and midwife in the household of AJ and Alice Barret

    Notes:

George Rogers Clark Floyd is thought to have had some nine children by three partners over several years. One of these partners seems to be Cosby Burress. I'm assuming she must have been a mistress as they never married and many of his other children were born around the same time as his children with Cosby. In 1860 Cosby is found in Kentucky, living next door to George and his son Rush. I'm guessing she either followed him to Kentucky or he brought her with him. By 1870 Cosby is back in Tazewell and George is in West Virginia. Perhaps she finally got tired of his shit and left him?

Causbia married George Rogers Clark Floyd in 1850 in Virginia, United States. George was born on 3 Sep 1810 in Montgomery County, Virginia, USA; died on 7 May 1895 in Logan County, West Virginia. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
